The date for filing papers for this year’s municipal election is drawing near. The deadline to file is Friday at 2.00pm. In Smooth Rock Falls nominees for the top job has just one candidate filed so far. That’s Michel Arseneault. For council Clement Desroches, Joanne Landry, Jean Lemieux, Sue Perras, Gratien Bernier, and Daniel Alie have filed their papers. In Kapuskasing incumbent mayor Alan Spacek remains uncontested so far. Filing their papers to run for council are newcomer Emilie Lemieux, long time councilor David Plourde, Yvon Guertin, Martin Credger, and Frand Siebert. Business man Jody Blais has also filed his papers as has former councilor Gary Dent. Hearst’s top job has three candidates currently filed. They are incumbent Roger Sigouin, Councilor Marc Dupuis, and Councilor Katrina Carerra. And so far incumbent councilor Andre Rheaume has filed his papers as has newcomer Michel Brousseau.
