The upcoming municipal elections will see one less participant. Smooth Rock Falls mayor, Kevin Somer has announced that he will not be running for re-election this year. Stating family matters as his main focus, Somer says he will be back later on, but for now his family takes precedence. In Kapuskasing, Mayor Alan Spacek is still the only candidate for the top job but in Hearst there’s a few signed up. Incumbent Mayor Roger Seguin has put his name back in for the top job as well as Councilors Marc Dupuis and Katrina Carrera.
