A Hearst man has been fined $2000 for unlawfully hunting moose at night and making a false statement to conservation officers. In mid-September conservation officers were notified of suspicious activity near Val Cote. Officers noticed a spotlight sweeping the area which confirmed the presence of illegal hunting. Corey Wesley was stopped in his vehicle and a rifle, ammunition and a moose call were found. The case was heard in Hearst court last week.
