NDP leader Jack Layton accompanied AMK MP Carol Hughes around the riding over the past few days and made stops in Hearst, Kapuskasing and Smooth Rock Falls on Saturday. The two met with the Hearst council before meeting with seniors and then travelling on to Kap. Here they met with community members at La Forge before meeting with Tembec officials and union members. Following that meeting the two headed to Smooth Rock Falls to meet with their town council. Layton said that he enjoyed meeting the people of the communities and listening to what constituents have to say.
