Fastening your seatbelt became mandatory in Ontario 35 years ago and to mark the occasion, the OPP kicks off the spring seatbelt campaign this week. The province-wide campaign runs from April 13^th to April 23^rd. The enforcement will make sure that both drivers and passengers are buckled up safely. Police say that 89 people died on OPP patrolled highways last year because they didn’t buckle up. Kapuskasing and Hearst OPP remind drivers to buckle up, seatbelts save lives.
