The Legion public speaking contest was held in Kapuskasing last night with students from Diamond Jubilee Public School and St. Patrick’s School and from Kapuskasing District High School facing off against one another. In the primary division first place went to Jordan St. Amand from St. Pat’s. In the junior division first place was Elania Turcotte from St. Pat’s. The intermediate division was won by Alec Laflamme of St. Pat’s. The senior division was won by Elissa Laflamme from KDHS. These winners go on to the zone competition held in Kapuskasing this Saturday at Branch 85 beginning at 1.00pm. The zone competition consists of five legion branches from Hornepayne, Hearst, Kap, Smooth Rock Falls and Cochrane. First place winners then move onto the District competition being held in Kapuskasing March 27^th. The district consists of Legion branches from Hornepayne to Temagami. The legion congratulates all competitors and winners and wishes them good luck for all upcoming competitions.
