			<title>Six Men Fined $27,000 Buying Moose</title>

			<description>Six men from southern Ontario have been fined a total of $27,000 for buying a moose while on a hunting trip last fall. All six pleaded guilty to unlawfully buying game wildlife, contrary to the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act. The six men were in the Hearst area hunting for moose last September when conservation officers found the moose at their camp was not shot by them. The MNR reminds hunters that commercial sale or purchase of wildlife could result in fines or jail or both. </description>

			<title>Students in Business</title>

			<description>Secondary students in the area have been participating in a nine-month competition in business. This business plan challenge is a unique competition aimed at introducing entrepreneurship to secondary school-aged students while offering them an opportunity to compete for a great prize. The students have been preparing business plans and a panel of local business people will evaluate their work. The plan is open to secondary school students in the area and KDHS, Ecole secondaire de Hearst and Ecole Secondaire l’Alliance are participating. The showcase of this business plan challenge will be later this month and is open to the public. This is sponsored by North Claybelt Community Futures Development Corporation, NOHFC, Far North-East Training Board,, Commerce Managment Group, University of Hearst, College Boreal, Neonet, TD Canada Trust, Collins Barrow and FedNor. </description>

			<description>Philadelphia Flyers player and Hearst native Claude Giroux has his own website and prominently featured on this website is his hometown. Hearst’s mayor Roger Sigouin, is pictured beside the van he has customized with the Flyers logo and Go Flyers. One of the links on Giroux’s website is to the Notre Dame Foundation’s fundraiser for the Claude Giroux Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Center at the hospital. It’s hoped that this high profile website will generate more funding to the centre that needs $700,000. Check out the website at . </description>

			<title>Jacques Cartier Students Bring home Medals after Badminton Tournament in Hearst</title>

			<description>Students from Jacques Cartier school were in Hearst on Tuesday for a badminton tournament and came home with lots of hardware. In singles competition Sophie Charron came home with gold in Grade 5 while Remi Lessard brought home the silver. In Grade 6 Jessie Cassonato came home with silver. Grade 7 gold was won by Lophie Lebrun and silver by Tyler Fortier. Grade 8 gold belongs to Jamey Lauzon and silver to Emilie Larochelle. In doubles from Grade 7 Renee Levesque and Izabel Veilleux won gold and in Grade 8 Anne Proulx and Chelsea Wilson took gold while Derek Goulet and Yanik Fortin took Bronze. In mixed doubles it was Deric Hebert and Jessica Plamondon taking gold for Grade 7 and Alex Plamondon and Vanessa Ouellette taking bronze for Grade 8. </description>

For residents of Hearst, Calstock, Jogues, Val Cote, and Hallebourg you will be voting at the Place des Arts in Hearst at the Place des Arts.
For residents of Mattice voting will be  done at the Sports Complex.
Residents of Val Rita/Harty, Opasatika and Moonbeam there is no advance polling in your community. Should you wish to participate in the advance poll you are advised to attend the advance polls at the Centre de Loisirs in Kapuskasing.

			<title>Highway 11 Kap To Hearst Reopens</title>

			<description>The Hearst Detachment of the OPP closed Highway 11 between Kap and Hearst late yesterday afternoon because of the weather. Blowing snow and snow accumulation caused white-out conditions and dangerous driving. Highway 11 has been reopened to traffic as of 8:00am this morning. Because of the highway closure, lots of transports were backed up in both locations. Traffic began moving shortly afte 8:00am. </description>

			<title>Special Olympians Bring Home the Ribbons</title>

			<description>Special Olympians come in all ages and sizes and in Kapuskasing they come to win. The Special Olympics swim meet was held in Hearst on Saturday and many of the Kap participants came home with ribbons. Jenna Knowles came home with three first place finishes and one third place. Stella Arezza had three second place finishes and one third. Lise Aubertin had three first place finishes and one third. Fabien Fortin had three first place finishes and two seconds. Sebastien Riopel had two first place finishes and two seconds. Eugene Jean had one first place finish and two seconds. And the relay team of Jenna, Fabien, Sebastien and Eugene came in first.

			<title>OPP Kicks of Seatbelt Campaign</title>

			<description>Fastening your seatbelt became mandatory in Ontario 35 years ago and to mark the occasion, the OPP kicks off the spring seatbelt campaign this week. The province-wide campaign runs from April 13th to April 23rd. The enforcement will make sure that both drivers and passengers are buckled up safely. Police say that 89 people died on OPP patrolled highways last year because they didn’t buckle up. Kapuskasing and Hearst OPP remind drivers to buckle up, seatbelts save lives. </description>

The Hearst Elans are the host team for the OHF Midget AA hockey tournament with teams from all parts of the province on hand. The opening ceremonies are tonight at 7:00pm at the Claude Larose arena. The Elans are on the ice this morning at 11:45 and again at 7:30 tonight. Games continue through tomorrow with round robin finals and the tournament final set for Sunday. </description>

			<description>There’s a huge hockey tournament on this weekend in Hearst. The Hearst Elans are the host of the OHF Midget AA hockey tournament that starts tomorrow morning at 10:00am. The official opening ceremonies will be held at 7:00pm tomorrow night at the Claude Larose Arena. Les Elans play tomorrow morning at 11:45 with their second game scheduled for 7:30 tomorrow night. The games continue through Saturday with the round robin finals and game finals on Sunday. </description>

			<description>The price of oil has remained in the $108 a barrel range for the past couple of days now, but the price at the pump has jumped. In Kapuskasing the price of regular gas is now ranging from $1.34.5 to $1.34.7 a litre. In Hearst the price is $1.32.1 while in Moonbeam the price is $1.34.5. Cochrane has the dubious distinction of having the highest prices around with the highest price at $1.37.9 a litre. </description>
