The Ontario Forest Industries Association held its annual meeting in Toronto yesterday and recognized the contribution of community leaders and organizations. The UN General Assembly declared 2011 the International Year of the Forests to raise awareness of sustainable forest management, development and conservation. During the annual meeting several organizations and individuals were recognized for promoting the sustainable use of Ontario’s forests. They included Hearst’s mayor, Roger Sigouin, Timmins mayor, Tom Laughren and the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities.
