The Place des Artes in Hearst held its grand opening with a gala celebration on Friday night. Many on hand were impressed with the various art forms from the decorations by the high school students to photographers and painters. Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP Carol Hughes was among those in attendance Friday night praising the youth of the community. Local photographer Francoise Savard-Jensen spent a year taking pictures around the area in preparation for the opening of the Place des Artes. Following the opening celebrations a concert was given by Les Giselles. There was even more activities on Saturday night.
