As we prepare to celebrate Remembrance Day tomorrow, there are fewer and fewer veterans remaining from the wars. There are only four surviving veterans of World War I in the world. There’s one in the US, one in Australia, one in England and one in Poland. One is aged 110 and the others are 109. Tomorrow residents of Kapuskasing and Hearst will hold Remembrance Day services to pay respects to those who fought and died beginning with the First World War. In Hearst a parade starts at the Legion at 10:30 and heads to the Place des Artes where the Remembrance Day service will be held. In Kapuskasing a parade forms up at the Welcome Centre and continues to the Cenotaph where the service is held. Don’t forget to wear your poppy.
